WAIT Training Program
We offer the unique programs for teens using a curriculum entitled WAIT Training. WAIT Training was originally developed in 1996 by a registered nurse in collaboration with a team of other health care professionals. This curriculum is regularly updated to ensure that students are receiving honest and accurate information.*
The General Goals of WAIT Training are:
- Impart Knowledge and Information
- Provide Life Skills
- Provide Affirmation
- Influence Behavior
One Unit Presentation
A one-hour session which consists of age appropriate discussions of topics such as sexuality, goals, actions and consequences, media influence, and healthy relationships.
Five Unit Presentation
Five one-hour sessions can be presented over the course of five days or five weeks. This presentation expands on the overview to engage students in activities to emphasize friendship, dating and love, media influence, and consequences of teen sex.
Ten Unit Presentation
Ten one-hour sessions can be presented over the course of ten days or ten weeks. This presentation expands on the overview and five unit presentation and further engages students in activities to emphasize differences between men and women and dealing effectively with conflict.
*Secular versions of all curriculum are available.
What People Are Saying about WAIT Training
“I think it helped students to not feel awkward….and gave them
clear and distinct reasons to say no to sex before marriage.”
“They did a great job of talking about abstinence; they kept the
presentation at an appropriate level but provided opportunities
for students to talk afterwards about other related topics.”
“I loved the discussion about the different aspects of sexuality. It’s so important to know that there is so much more to sex than just the physical.”
